Our mission statement
Our mission is to forge a unified coalition of groups and individuals across university campuses in Sheffield which is dedicated to the liberation of Palestine. We will act as a Palestinian solidarity network which invites all students, staff members and university alumni to engage in collaborative efforts to realise our shared aims.
These aims are as follows:
- To dismantle the institutional complicity of the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University in Israel’s occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestine, which includes total divestment from arms manufacturers and other complicit companies.
- To provide material and political support for Palestinian students and all those who engage in political activism on campus for the sake of Palestinian freedom.
- To promote campus awareness of and engagement with Palestinian solidarity through historical, political and cultural education.
We acknowledge the connection of the Palestinian struggle for liberation to all struggles against colonialism throughout the Global South. In the spirit of grassroots political activism, we plan to foster connections beyond our campuses with all solidarity efforts in Sheffield, across the country and around the world, but our focus will remain grounded in creating deliberate change on our campuses.
We will stand firmly against all forms of ethnic and religious prejudice and oppression, including Islamophobia and antisemitism. The SCCP is intent on developing a strong, inclusive and expansive network that challenges the unacceptable status quo of silent complicity on our campuses and works tirelessly towards a future where our universities stand as bastions of justice and liberation for the Palestinian people and all other oppressed peoples across the world.
